There are about 200 countries in the world, and every country has their own traditional food. It is part of their cultural, make them unique and stand out from everyone else. Do you know each countries’ traditional food? I will introduce the traditional food of several countries in the following paragraphs.
Japan Sashimi is one of Japan’s traditional food. Sashimi is sliced raw fish eaten with ginger and soy sauce mixed with wasabi.
Spain One of Spain’s traditional food is Mejillones rellenos. Mejillones rellenos is stuffed mussels, called tigres (“tiger”) in Navarre because of the spicy taste.
Taiwan Stinky tofu (chòu dòu fu) is one of Taiwan’s traditional food. You may ask why it’s called Stinky tofu because it smells like rotten food. It smells worse than it looks but it actually tastes better than it smells. Stinky tofu is crispy fried tofu cubes, silky soft insides, soaked in pickled cabbage and spicy chili sauce on the side. An interesting fact, the stinky it smells, the better it is.
United States One of the United States’ traditional food is cheeseburger. Cheeseburger is a BBQ hamburger patty topped with cheese. Traditionally, it is often served with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, bacon, mustard, ketchup and mayonnaise.
New Zealand Maori hangi was the most widely used method of cooking by Maori for over 2000 years. Hangi is a style of cooking traditional foods include meats, seafood, and vegetables. Meat such as lamb, in New Zealand, they prefer lamb over another meat.
China Dumplings (jiǎo zi) is one of China’s traditional food. It is often filled with beef, pork, chicken, shrimp and/or veggies wrapped around a small pieces of dough. You can either streamed, fried, or boiled it. Then dip the dumplings in black vinegar with chili sauce, chili sauce with soy sauce, or soy sauce.
Mexico Gorditas is one of Mexico’s traditional food. Gorditas is crisp on the outside and soft within, it is often fry in lard or butter instead of oil. Savory corn cakes are a great base for all types of toppings, from pulled pork to shredded chicken.
